Editing Best Practices

This page describes best practices for editing this Wiki. Obviously none of this is mandatory, but this will help keep the Wiki organized.

  1. The names of pages that you create usually have names like "wiki:avionics" or "wiki:i-just-made-this-page". When you are linking other pages, don't forget to include the wiki part, and then you'll get matching pages in the dropdown.

  2. Tag your pages with underscore + first letter so that it shows up in the Wiki glossary (for example, this page is tagged with "_e", and so it will show up under E). To tag a page, go down to the bottom ribbon bar of the page and enter as many tags as you want under "Tags".
  3. When you create a new page, try and link it to some other page. Sticking a "See Also" section at the bottom of pages is a nice way to do this.
  4. Tip: Feel free to make a new page that you just use for trying out editing, if this markup language is new to you. You can always delete it later.
    1. Try putting in a link, an image, a table of contents, and section headers to see what they look like.
  5. Tip: Use the wizard markup buttons (the ones with the little stars) for images, pages, and links. It's just easier.
